This song’s lyrics went through several iterations, stemming from a moment shared with my five-year-old after she first heard the demo. I asked her what I should sing about, and she suggested that I sing about how she’s the best kid ever. From that moment I knew it had to be about her in some way, but while I did strongly consider writing about exactly what she had suggested with no artistic metaphor, I ultimately settled on the idea of a Targaryen King passing on wisdom to his daughter and heir.
